Operating from three factories in Harold Wood Essex close to junction 28 of the M25 Firman Glass is an independent glass processor with vast manufacturing capabilities serving our clients in Essex, London and the Home Counties as well as companies sited in other parts of the UK operating in Central London.

Our glass stocks are comprehensive from 4mm -19mm thick including low iron glass, standard stock laminated glass as well as purpose made toughened laminated glass for structural use; mirrors including ‘de-misting’ products, back painted glass and pre-satin etch glass.

Toughened Glass – Our Cooltemper toughening plant is one of largest in the UK and offers a maximum glass size of 3000mm x 5000mm.

Laminated Glass – Stock is held of standard annealed laminated glass from 6.4mm to 12.8mm and including Pilkington K Low E laminated in 6.4mm, 8.8mm and 10.8mm thicknesses.

Our PVB laminating operation enables purpose made laminates to be constructed using standard clear, diffused and Vanceva coloured interlayers for any purpose from pure decorative use to structurally glazed walk-on floor panels incorporating toughened glass combinations.

Processing – Our company reputation is built on our ability to produce quality products, economically and on-time. Firman Glass has invested in the best glass processing equipment available to suit of client’s requirements, recently installed 6m x 3m computerised cutting equipment ensures accuracy from the starting process; complex shapes can be cut on the ‘water jet’ cutter capable of cutting accurately through 100mm steel and granite.

Edge working and processing is achieved by various machines dependent on the size and shape of the glass panel from straight line edging to using any of the four CNC edge working machines for complex shaped glass.

Glass Decoration

ColorfirmTM back painted glass is a major product line for use as splash backs and wall cladding etc., glass can be painted to any RAL or BS colour on annealed, toughened or laminated glass dependent on the application. Our glass processing equipment allows light switches, taps, sinks etc. to be easily accommodated.

Sand blasted glass - complex sandblast patterns can be manufactured using our in-house sand blast machine in conjunction with vinyl cutting equipment. The example shown is a spitfire which is now glazed in the ‘Veteran’s’ Centre at Duxford.

UV Bonding – Our UV bonded glass products are manufactured in their own work area to ensure as clean as possible working environment. Products manufactured included display cases, glass sculptures and feature glass structures for retail displays.

Display cases were recently manufactured to a shopfitting contractor for installation on the new QE2 ocean liner.

Sealed Unit Manufacture – Our sealed unit line manufactures specialist units mainly for the structural glazing market capable of manufacturing to a maximum size of 3000mm x 5000mm and to a weight of 2 tonnes. These could be large units of low specification considered by many as ‘oversize’ to smaller units of heavy construction for structural ‘walk-on’ use for instance.
